JOB DESCRIPTION: Internship supporting energy-related programs for Metropolitan Energy Center, specifically for the Kansas City Regional and the Central Kansas Clean Cities Coalitions. We will consider the intern’s program interests during placement; responsibilities may include any of the following, depending on our needs and the intern’s experience, skills and interests:
- Meeting and event coordination
- Conducting outreach and contact management
- Phone and online surveys and market research
- Website and social media updates
- Interacting with and educating local, state and federal officials and elected representatives
- Newsletter content and solicitation of information from coalition members
- Administrative support
Preferred Majors/Academic Years: Marketing, Communication, Business Administration or related fields. Background in Environmental Studies or other Sciences a plus.
SHIFT: Scheduling is flexible, but intern must be available during regular business hours 9:00 –5:00 PM M-F. Candidate must be available to work an average of 20 hours per week, and may be asked to work weekend hours for events. Schedules will be negotiated upon candidate selection, and will prioritize intern’s academic responsibilities.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Stipend for this internship ranges from $2,520 to $4,200, depending on hours worked and academic rank. College credit may be available subject to approval by your instructor. Ample opportunities to network with business, government and non-profit stakeholders. A varied menu of responsibilities provides experience with multiple work skills in a short period of time. Interns are encouraged to take advantage of Clean Cities’ extensive online learning series on alternative fuels and technologies, and on fundraising, PR and communications strategies.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED: Candidates need strong written and oral communication ability, computer experience (especially spreadsheets and word processing) and outstanding organizational skills. Junior, senior or graduate status strongly preferred.
